Led the UX team across the resident app and the property manager platform, cutting move-in completion time by 43%.
Context
The Problem
Venn, a PropTech startup offering a resident operating system, identified the move-in process as a major pain point—citing inefficiencies and stress for both residents and property managers.
Residents struggle to complete paperwork and tasks while managing the chaos of packing and moving. Meanwhile, property managers must coordinate multiple move-ins, track documents, conduct meetings, and distribute keys—often using scattered platforms, making the process time-consuming and difficult to manage.
My Role
Research
After mapping the move-in process, we found a key issue: residents lack a centralized system for tasks, making the process slower. Property managers, meanwhile, rely on manual methods—saving files from emails and using desktop folders—creating inefficiencies and tracking challenges.
Design solutions
Redesigned the move-in experience in the Venn app for residents and introduced a streamlined workflow for property managers through the SaaS platform.
Once Sally signs her lease, she receives a welcome email prompting her to download the Venn app. She then creates an account, sets up her profile, and selects community group preferences for a personalized experience.
To begin the move-in process, Sally must submit paperwork. The app provides clear instructions, and she uploads her first document.
Once Sally uploads her insurance, Johnny receives a new task on his Move-in list to review and approve her document.
Sally receives a notification in the app that her document has been approved and proceeds to complete her remaining tasks.
